  • Claudia’s method, Naturally Clear Vision, is based on the Bates Method.  Dr. Bates was an ophthalmologist who worked over 100 years ago, and he observed that his patients were only getting worse with the convention treatments available.  The Bates Method is the foundation for all natural vision improvement methods.

  • Rather than thinking of the method as “eye exercises,” the Naturally Clear Vision Method focuses on relaxation as a means of improving eyesight.

  • Most of the time, the eye muscles are too tight and too strong, rather than too weak.

  • Vision is a passive action of receiving light in the right way into the retina part of the brain.

  • It is typically mental strain which transfers to the brain and then creates a strain on the eyes.

  • Myopia is on the rise in children, which is unusual because the visual system is not fully developed until age 15.  Almost all events of childhood myopia are due to some trauma event within childhood.

  • Once eyeglasses are prescribed, the eye will change shape to accommodate the lens of the glasses.

  • The underlying root cause of blurry vision goes back to strain and stress related to not feeling safe, and not wanting to “see things.”

  • Anecdotally, elderly people who do not have failing vision often lead a very joyful life.

  • Emotionally, nearsighted people are typically introverted, introspective, and more self-focused.  Farsighted people are typically more outward-focused, able to see others easier than they are able to see themselves.

  • Light sensitivity is connected to refractive errors, because the eyes are light receivers.

  • During regular daily life, be mindful of wearing sunglasses too often.  Opt for wearing a sunhat or a cap, and start exposing yourself to early morning sun or later evening sun so that you are not starting with overly bright sunlight.  Light sensitivity can be reversed.

  • If you take any kind of pharmaceutical or recreational drugs that affect pupil restriction, you must continue wearing sunglasses.

  • Palming can be a helpful restorative practice to relax the visual system.

  • The higher your prescription, the higher your risk of macular degeneration.

  • If you are farsighted, you may only need drugstore glasses, or a weaker prescription. 

  • Getting into weaker glasses is absolutely crucial.

  • Improving eyesight is work that takes practice, just like adoption a new diet, but it will pay off.

  • No blue light 2-3 hours before bed.

  • Blinking often is very important, and staring can strain the eyes unnecessarily.

  • There are often many side-effects with Lasik eye surgery, and the surgery does not correct the underlying cause.

  • Eye drops are not recommended on a regular basis.  Instead, blink more, and practice palming.  Also warm compresses (not too hot,) will increase blood flow to the area.

  • Do not discount how you talk about your eyesight.  Refrain from saying things like, “I’m blind without my glasses.” 

  • Ask yourself hard questions like, “Do I want a barrier between myself and the world?  Am I okay being seen by others and seeing myself and the world as it is?”

  • You may try putting one drop of castor oil on the eyelid or lashes at night, this is an ancient Ayurvedic practice, but don’t overdo it!
