About Dr. Dickson Thom

Dr. Dickson Thom has over 45 years of medical experience as a clinician and teacher to doctors, students and the lay public in proven medical principles and business skills. His first post-doctoral degree was obtained from the University of Toronto, Faculty of Dentistry in 1974. I received my first Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine degree from the Ontario College of Naturopathic Medicine in Canada in 1986. In 1989, and later completed a second degree from National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, Oregon. He was the past Dean of Naturopathic Medicine at NCNM and was a full-time professor for over 25 years

  

In 2009, having received a very prestigious honor being awarded “The Vis Award” from the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians for his commitment to the Healing Power of Nature as demonstrated through his work, life, and community service. 

 

He has lectured extensively for over 40 years throughout the world and have written and collaborated on many articles dealing with energy medicines and nutrition. In addition, he is  the author of 5 books: 

Coping with Food Intolerances  

Unda Numbers: An Energetic Journey to Homeostasis and Wellness  

Bioregulatory Medicine, An Integrative Holistic approach to Self-Healing  

Basic Treatment Guidelines, aka Natural Laws to Live By

To add to a long career as a professor, he has always maintained a private practice with a primary focus on chronic disease, autoimmune disease, neurological conditions, gastrointestinal problems, and endocrine disorders.  

 

He continues practicing biological medicine in Scottsdale, AZ and Providence, RI. With 5 decades to perfect his philosophy and understanding of the human body, he believes health is a reflection of physical, emotional, spiritual, and energetic balance, and remains committed to helping people overcome obstacles to achieving this essential equilibrium.

        • At the core there is: genetics, reactional modes (miasms), and temperament​

      • Miasms:​ reactional mode

        • Psoric - strong miasm, rapid expellers - diarrhea ​

        • Psychosis - walls off toxins, poor eliminator. May have a good diet and high cholesterol

        • Tuberculin - poor immune response, recruit their endocrine system to defend themselves

        • Psyphillis -  tend to have bleeding disorders, ulcerative colitis

          • 4 different people will respond differently to the same microbe ​

          • There are less psoriatic people than the other miasms

          • Majority of woman fall under psychosis

      • Temperament: ​why you have the preferences in life that you do from career to food choices

      • Sanguine, choleric, melancholic, phlegmatic

        • phlegmatic - has congestion, sinus issues, cough (often related to the psychosis miasm)

        • Melancholic - out of balance of the other temperaments, sadness, depression, anxiety, prefers pizza and beer

        • There is questionnaire - have partner fill out, most people will be a mix

        • Diets and exercise should be chosen according to temperament

      • Think of the process as similar to peeling an onion​

        • All of our experiences leave an imprint​

        • What are the organs that are most out of balance?

          • Can take months or years, may go quickly or slowly​

          • The brain does not fully mature until our mid twenties

          • Traumas can be large or small, it is the perception of the person

          • Allows reprogramming to create a new outcome

      • Unda and drainage; missed by most modalities of medicine​

        • Supports the 5 main emunctories: lungs, kidneys, digestive tract, skin, emotions​

        • If there is a chronic condition, there are at least 5 organs that are not functioning

        • Unda numbers arose out of the need for tuberculin numbers in the early 1900's

      • Basic treatment guidelines follow the Natural Laws

        • Breathing - need to deep breathe and slower​

        • Water - needs adequate amounts

        • Movement - does not require vigorous exercise

        • Lymph - supported by the above, hydration and movement
